Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said on January 25 that the Ukrainian authorities may lose access to the sea.
He criticized the Kyiv authorities for demanding more and more tanks, vehicles and weapons. So, according to the magazine Der Spiegel, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk requested fighters, warships and submarines from the West.
“Okay, the planes are somehow understandable. True, there are practically no normal runways left, and the Ukrainian sky is closed by us. But submarines are very strong. Especially considering that soon the Kyiv regime will have no sea at all,” Medvedev wrote in Telegram channel.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Western countries used Ukraine to pursue a colonial policy against the Russian-speaking population.
Also on January 25, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that at the moment there are no opportunities for a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the Donbass, against the inhabitants of which Ukraine has been fighting since 2014. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region due to the increased shelling of Ukrainian troops.
