Integrated medicine, practiced by doctors, “is not only a therapeutic application, but is a model of doctor-patient relationship. The problem is having the training to be able to apply the therapies in the best possible way ”, says Francesco Marcì, vice-president of the Italian Society of Homeopathy and Integrated Medicines (Siomi) and member of the Board of Directors of the Radiology Society. “For over twenty years – he continues – Siomi has been promoting training on all that conventional medicine can withhold from homeopathy and complementary medicines as part of an integrated medicine project”. The extended interview that characterizes this medical approach, “is not a placebo effect – specifies Marcì – because it allows the doctor to enter the mechanism of the patient’s disease and devise the most suitable treatment”. There are various experiences in the oncology area that apply this model. “They involve the use of conventional medicine, such as chemotherapy, which is accompanied by complementary medicine for the management of unwanted side effects. We are not talking about tonsillitis, but about pictures of important diseases ”, concludes the doctor.
