Sinaloa.- After Mayor Jesús Estrada Ferreiro reiterated that his words of re-victimization of women who have suffered violence are still being taken out of context claims not to have said that they “are guilty”but they do “many times lead to harm because they do not abide by the recommendations”, yesterday again lashed out Debate by noting that “is generating journalistic and media terror” for people to hate and attack him.
During a radio interview of almost 24 minutes for Grupo Megamedios, the municipal president of Culiacán was questioned about the controversy that he has unleashed not only with his statements on March 1 during a police training workshop with a gender perspective, but also because of the way in which he reacted this Thursday during an act of his government, where He denied that his expression revictimized women, He accused this medium of altering and taking his speech out of context and described what was published as “bullshit”, in addition to warning “that they abide by the consequences, there will be no interviews.”
journalistic terror?
During the radio interview this Friday, March 4, Mayor Estrada Ferreiro admitted that what was published in the note of the edition of Wednesday, March 2, entitled “The woman is conducive to being harmed”, yes he says what he saidbut ensures that the headline says something else. “I’m not stupid, I don’t suck my thumb, the head of the publication says something else and makes people believe something else,” he adds.
The mayor assures that the note published by Debatein which he acknowledges that what he said is written, but that the headline does not correspond to what he said —although it is his own quote— it does not harm him, but rather harms society, the women themselves.

“They are confronting, they are generating journalistic and media terror so that people hate me, so that people attack me and say: ‘Look at this barbajan who is here as municipal president, he is saying that women are guilty of what happens’. No, I never said that.”
He recalled the day of the training workshop event where he gave the speech and admitted that it is valid for the media to attend, but added that “if the media are going to go to a place to take the note and then change it, alter it, pervert it, of course which is reprehensible.” He even pointed out that “freedom of expression has a limit, not to harm a third party.”
Strada’s argument
Regarding what was said on March 1, the mayor recalled: “I said that it is important that we abide by the recommendations that the authority gives us so that no greater damage is caused to us, and in that case I said the victims favor, in this case the Women, sometimes favor this outcome because they do not comply with the recommendation not to go out with the person who is threatening them, who has assaulted them, not to answer calls from a coffee or a meeting to talk or reconcile, because they deceive them and instead to reconcile cause them the damage they have caused to many victims”.
He even said that “if someone doesn’t like the word I used, what do they encourage, then tell me what word I use, Spanish is very rich, I’ll see what I do. I did not try to offend anyone or revictimize anyone, of course not, “he insisted.
Estrada affirmed that if a person, anyone, man or woman, felt offended, alluded to, attacked by what he said, “with all sincerity I offer you a public apology right now and wherever you ask me for it.”
unwilling to apologize
But then he insisted that: “I did not say that the women were to blame for what happened to them, I never said that, and that is how they put him in Debate. I said that many times they favored the victims or the women who harmed them because they did not abide by the recommendations.
What’s wrong with me saying that, I’m saying it back, I don’t regret saying it, I’m not going to apologize for it.” And he added: “I’m not going to be forced to apologize of things that I am not to blame, neither the Human Rights Commission nor any other authority”.
He also questioned who is believed to be a journalist or a newspaper or a television station to publish false things, damage the image of an official or a person, “because I also have a family, I have children, I have people who are hurt by what they say. of me, and more if they are lies”.
