The first mods based on NVIDIA RTX Remix emerge, a suite that allows you to modernize the technical sector of the great classics with new technologies.
A few days have passed since the open beta of RTX Remix technology went online and the first modders' works are starting to appear online.
NVIDIA, with RTX Remix, has created a software package that allows you to ennoble old videogame classics with many springs on your shoulders with all the most modern technologies: Ray Tracing, DLSS and even AI These are just some of the features you can access thanks to RTX Remix.
The only requests? A team of competent and passionate modders and games in DirectX 8 and 9: from the moment the title appears in the list of compatible video games, it will be possible to work with it via RTX Remix and create your own mod.
A revolutionary technology
This technology, in the right hands, already has demonstrated that he has what it takes to revolutionize the technical aspect of a gamemodernizing it and perhaps making it “edible” not only to nostalgics but also to younger enthusiasts who could be stopped by a graphics sector that is not up to par.
Even RTX Remix is being used to “remake” a milestone like Half Life 2, with the return to Black Mesa which we can't wait to enjoy and which we hope can be confirmed this year: it would be a nice gift for fans for the twentieth anniversary of this masterpiece.
The work done on another great early 2000s classic, Max Payne, is no exception: a small team of modders is in fact at work right on the first chapter of 2001, with the clear intent of bringing to life the adventures of the good Max and his fight against drugs under the aegis of the DEA.
The work is progressing and a small video has also been produced showing the steps forward and the huge differences that occur with the active mod.
The work is progressing
The only problem? As you can see here, the enabling of the mod in its current state coincides with a collapse in FPS which goes from around 1400 at just over 60, with a significant increase in consumption as well.
No fear, the state of the mod is extremely embryonic and in addition to the aesthetic aspect, which will tend to improve as the mod is refined, the technical section of the mod will also be updated and performance will improve.
All that remains is to enjoy the video comparison and remember that to try the mod or collaborate with the team, you can refer to this address.
We can only look with extreme interest at RTX Remix and the infinite possibilities that will open up for us users thanks to the work of modders who will have a new and important weapon on their side to “bring” great classics of the past back to life and make them more enjoyable or, as less, aesthetically much more pleasant. And we are also very curious to see how Remedy and Rockstar will respond, who are currently working on an official remake of the first 2 Max Payne and could be annoyed by this “amateur” work.
