Platinette talks about how he had the impression of “sinking into the abyss”. After all, for the well-known television personality, voice is everything
Mauro Coruzzi, better known to all as Platinette, faced an ischemic stroke last year. Certainly, it was an event that turned her life upside down. After two months in hospital, speech therapy and rehabilitation, the 68-year-old actor and TV personality is trying to fully recover and get back to normal.
The experience ofstroke led him to join the Association for the fight against cerebral stroke (ALICe. Italia Odv), becoming its testimonial. A choice not only guided by well-known personal reasons, but a “life” choice.
For Platinette it is a gesture that, as he says, seems to him “not only right, but useful”. We read in 'Vanity Fair', regarding his motivations, in relation to his commitment to the Association:
I also do it because I need it: it is a further push not to waste time, to rely on the best experts in the sector. Today, stroke affects anyone, and at all ages: once upon a time, especially those over fifty were at risk, but today even young people, athletes, and people who lead a healthy lifestyle are at risk.
Coruzzi, during the interview, also recounted the day of the stroke. He talked about that moment, when he had just finished training for a musical with his personal trainer. It all happened unexpectedly, in a way that truly felt like “the end time. Platinette, in fact, talks about how she felt that, for him, “the time to leave” had come.
I had suddenly lost my speech, but not my consciousness. I had to laugh. But he, who is a physiotherapist and is familiar with these problems, immediately understood what had happened to me.
There loss of speech at that moment, for Coruzzi, it was a trauma. Platinette talks about how she had the impression of “sinking into the abyss”. After all, for the well-known television personality, voice is everything. Coruzzi's career, in fact, began at the age of 18 on the radio, then continuing as an author, a role for which it is necessary to explain a script with all the obvious aspects of the case, including, indeed, his own voice. By doing television he subsequently became popular precisely because of his brazen and ruthless rhetorical attitude. But Coruzzi doesn't give up:
Today I'm taking my life back, but the mood is still very up and down. But I made a precious discovery: rehabilitation. It made me understand that any human being can reconstruct their identity piece by piece.
