Masorange agrees to a ERE over 650 workers. But it does so not with all employee representatives but only with UGT and Fetico since Workers’ Commissions has finally rejected the proposal. However, the file goes ahead since the two signatory unions have a majority.
It was a month ago when the company presented the ERE, although the impact was ultimately less than initially expected, as usually happens in all these processes. The entity resulting from the merger of Orange and MásMóvil with 30 million customers announced a file in which voluntariness would prevail and would affect a maximum of 795 workers. This represented 9.5% of the firm’s around 8,400 employees.
Of those 795 employees, the final agreement has affected 650 people. “It has been a tough negotiation in which the final conditions have not met the expectations of a good part of the staff,” highlighted UGT, in reference to the fact that a large part of the workers rejected the latest proposal of Masorangewhich has gone ahead with the votes in favor of the aforementioned plant and Fetico. The unions have also granted the company an employment guarantee until June 30, 2026, meaning that no more ERE will be undertaken at least until then, as long as no serious structural problems arise.
The maximum compensation will be 47 days per year worked and a maximum of 24 monthly payments in the best of cases for some of those affected. The compensation range is between 47 and 34 days per year worked with a limit of 24 monthly payments for those employees who volunteer. For forced departures it would be between 45 and 33 days and a maximum of 24 months. In the case of personnel aged 63 or over, it will be 20 days per year and a limit of 12 monthly payments.
On the other hand, workers with less than eight years of seniority in the company and who appear voluntarily will receive a bonus of 3,000 euros, a figure that increases to 8,000 euros for employees with a seniority of between nine and 12. years and which increases to 15,000 euros for those who have been in the company for more than 12 years.
Likewise, access to the early retirement plan is from 56 years of age and with a seniority of at least 9 years, for workers of that age and 57 years of age; For people between 58 and 62 years old, the minimum seniority will be 5 years.
At the time of presenting the ERE, Masorange sent an internal communication, which ABC accessed, in which the measure was justified by the need to avoid duplication of positions after the integration. «After these first months of operation, We have verified that there are still certain organizational duplications as a consequence of the integration of the templates of both groups. For this reason, we have made the decision to carry out an organizational adjustment plan that we have just communicated to the unions, whose legal figure is the ERE, which in practice can be done in very different ways,” the document said.
In this way, this file is added to the procedures agreed upon this year in Telefónica, Vodafone and Avatel. In total there will be almost 5,650 layoffs in the union, a number greatly influenced by the departures from José María Álvarez-Pallete in telecom.
