Belgium coach Roberto Martinez said Kevin De Bruyne is the “most amazing playmaker” in world football.
Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne starred in a big way to score a goal and assist the second goal in the match that Belgium won 2-1 against Wales on Thursday evening in the European Nations League competitions.
De Bruyne, who won the Premier League Player of the Year award for the second time, hit another dangerous ball during the first half of yesterday’s match, but it hit the post.
“This is a message to all our fans, you can’t expect to see Kevin De Bruyne playing,” Martinez told reporters. He is for me the most amazing playmaker in the world of football at the moment.”
He added, “He is great in his vision of the match, the timing as well as the spaces, and he is great in execution in front of goal.” He continued: “I see his performance was magical in the match, but he does this, I look at the Poland match that ended with Belgium winning 1-0 in June, he does it constantly, sometimes I look at him, and I say we are very lucky to have a player like Kevin.”
De Bruyne, 31, won the Premier League Player of the Year award for the second time last season, when he also won it in the 2019-20 season.
De Bruyne tops the list of Premier League stars currently in the goal industry, as he has assisted six goals so far.
