Another podium
After achieving a disappointing fourteenth position on the starting grid in Barcelona, the weekend of Marc Marquez it looked decidedly uphill. The Spanish champion, however, managed to stage another new and sensational comeback – after the one in Le Mans – and he finished the Sprint in second place and the Sunday race in third place.
In this way Marquez, who arrived in Catalonia -40 behind Martin, leaves Montmelò 41 points away from the top.
Marquez’s analysis
“I knew that this Sunday race had to be cooked on a very slow fire“, Marc Marquez told journalists after the race, revealing: “I didn’t know you were fighting for a podium on the last lap, because when there are races of this type, I ask the team not to report my position to me. I couldn’t see the first two in front, so I didn’t know if two or three of them had escaped. Today I didn’t have a good start, but I knew how to react during the race and how to manage the soft tyre.”
The Gresini team driver exulted with evident satisfaction after the checkered flag: “I was full of adrenaline. I crossed the finish line, looked at the tower to see who had won and I read 1, 89 and 93, and it was a double shot of adrenaline.” On the fight for the championship Marquez underlined: “I think it’s a two-man world championship, with a third hoping to enter. We have to improve, because the other two riders have been riding the same bike for five years and this can be seen especially in the time attack.”
Final line ad As on the Official Ducati: “Red is my color, what distinguishes me in the stands. And my helmet has always been red,” concluded Marquez with a smile.
