Mexico.- The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard announced that there will be a Public consultation on priorities of Mexicans in matter of urban policywhich will have as its objective, to know the concerns and ideas of people about the future of their cities.
This consultation will be carried out together with the forums “Interconnecting Smart Cities” that will take place in different cities of the country, as part of the agenda of Mexico at the 2022 Habitat International Summit for Latin America and the Caribbean, in Poland this year. Since the results of this process are expected to be presented in Poland.
“What we intend is to bring the presentation to Poland, to say: well, since you took into account the voice of Mexico, we brought it as close as possible to what Mexico thinks about (…) the future of cities”Marcelo Ebrard mentioned.
The foreign minister revealed that, through these actions, Mexico’s international action is linked to the creation of more prosperous cities, in which health and education services are improved, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda .
“We would be the first country in the world to present in a digital presentation what Mexicans think cities should be,” the chancellor stated.
The launch of this citizen consultation was carried out within the framework of the Interconnecting Smart Cities Forum, San Andrés Chapter, Cholula, Puebla. Different officials and politicians were present at this event, such as the governor of that state, Miguel Barbosa. Present at the presidium were Martha Delgado, Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, and President of the UN-Habitat General Assembly; Edmundo Tlatehui, mayor of San Andrés, Cholula.

Due to the above, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the population to participate in the citizen consultation through the QR code that directs WhatsApp to a contact of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
