“Working on the birth of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 was a great opportunity. We started from a formal concept to make it solvable from a technical point of view. “ Flavio Manzoni spoke with great enthusiasm about the birth of the third car in the Icona program, explaining the great stylistic freedom that in this case the Chief Design Officer and the Style Center have had in the stylistic design of a model inspired by Sport Prototypes, from 330 P3 / 4, to 330 P4 and up to 412 P. “It was a great challenge, – continued the creative director of the Cavallino – we tried to raise the bar from the point of view of the pure beauty of the object. In this case, it goes beyond the concept of the car itself. “
The possibility of doing a different job, thanks to the decision to give the ball to the designers: “Fewer compromises have been imposed on us but that doesn’t mean it’s less interesting. We thought about how to be able to grasp in technological and aerodynamic innovations the concept on which this project was to be based, – Manzoni said – on the Ferrari Daytona SP3 an o was nevertheless givenhomogeneity of language with the latest models. I am thinking of the 296 GTB for example, even though they are two completely different cars. We took two different but equally interesting approaches. “
Thus the stylistic work with the Ferrari Daytona SP3 has turned into a purity of design that has not only concerned the engine, with the power of the 840 HP V12, the most powerful ever proposed by the Cavallino, but also the shapes: “We started with the linguistic codes and the Ferrari lexicon and we wanted them to be a projector in the future. It is not just a supercar but an art object. It is a car with sculptural forms with almost dramatic lines. There is a monolithic effect as for the Monza, with an essentiality of the lines that expresses purity. It is a model with a racing interpretation that still maintains its sensual and elegant appearance. ” The new Ferrari Daytona SP3 will be available from the fourth quarter of 2022, only 599 copies will be produced, all already sold, at the unit price of 2 million euros (price list for the Italian market). Thanks to its record-breaking twelve-cylinder engine, the third car in the Icona program is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.85 seconds and reaching a top speed of over 340 km / h.
