Manolo Santana, in his last, or penultimate, seasons, was something of an old tennis bullfighter, and he always had a lot of success in the sport of getting married, because he reached his fourth wife, Claudia Rodríguez, who is now his widow. Santana was Manolo, because we call some of his tough class that way, with a bar-town voice, like Paquito or Seve, who are Francisco Fernández Ochoa and Severiano Ballesteros. We are very familiar with them, but they are respected. It seems to me that Manolo Santana also retains something of a relative of the great Ángel Nieto. It was something like an Ángel Nieto without a motorcycle, and with a racket. Manolo died in December 2021, being a legend. Now some children, plus the circle of friends, denounce that Claudia is neglecting the inheritance of her famous husband, which includes the tennis club with his name. So the figure of the tennis player is resurrected, to call for a tribute, but a reverse tribute, and with decibels on the brawl TVs. Manolo served as a monument of his own, in Marbella, where he took care of his academy, and there he took photos with Claudia, when he played, because Claudia is a brunette with a penchant for portraits, and a Colombian who sometimes likes herself in magazines. Claudia uses WhatsApp and has ever been lyrical and has already written “I will always love you”, thus quoting Manolo without quoting him. The figure of the tennis player is resurrected, to call for a tribute, but with decibels on the TVs of brawl. He is twenty years younger than our champion. I write this to give this portrait of memory some chronological detail, because Manolo was always a man of shaking the calendar a lot. In other words, he was a boyfriend who fell in love often. Manolo has changed his wife quite a bit, although he is always remembered as monogamous, with his mother as the main woman there in the cup of his biography, because his mother laid the tenacity of the foundation for Manolo to be Manolo Santana. For Santana, the glorious sons of tennis, like Rafa Nadal, or Carlos Moyá, always supported him in applause, but Manolo’s sons themselves sometimes failed him even when he went and remarried. So sometimes they have applauded him little, or not at all. Manolo Santana has been the inventor of tennis, in Spain, and has played with great spirit the Wimbledon of international love, because he married twice with Spanish women, Fernanda Dopeso and Mila Ximénez, and then with a Swedish model, Otti Glanzielus, until reaching to Claudia, who is from beyond the ocean. From these successive relationships, Manolo has a group of children, and perhaps we know more about Alba, whose mother, Mila Ximénez, also deceased today, would from time to time give Manolo a complete set of half tundas, regarding the truths of the husband of bitter memory that he was, according to her. Manolo, when others, or others, put his biography in the window, was a man of doing nothing, because he trained in the art of patience and let the calendar fall apart. He was often hurt by the sadness that his son, also Manolo, who was going to be a podium tennis player, chose to retire, touched in his spirit by the comparisons with his father, which usually come up with hateful comparisons, like all, or almost all, but even more. As a young man, Manolo was a champion, tenacious and ugly, but he healed from the latter over the years. Now it reminds him of the family in conflict. It is a kind, and unrepeatable, relic from when sport was not a thing for hairdresser apologetics, or showcase tattoos. That’s it, Manolo.
