The coach after the success against Malta: “They’re grumpy games, but when you unlock them you have to raise the level. Retegui is important, let’s give him time”
After the defeat against England on their debut, Italy restarted with a 2-0 win over Malta with goals from Retegui and Pessina. Coach Roberto Mancini keeps the victory, without exalting it: “They are difficult matches in which you have everything to lose, they are ugly, grumpy and not very pleasant because the opponent withdraws, there are no spaces, you can never lose concentration. We have done good things and others not. The important thing was to unlock it and we succeeded, but then we had to score a few more goals”. The blue coach doesn’t seem particularly satisfied: “We had to and could have done much better. What? Almost everything”. Then on Retegui: “It was fundamental because he unlocked the game. Now let’s give him time to settle in and understand our football.”
