Disney + could be working on a TV series dedicated to Magneto, although the news it’s not official. Since the acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019 from the house of Mickey Mouse, Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the first appearance of the X-Men within the increasingly complex Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although Disney has not made any statements regarding the inclusion of these characters, the work of the fans is tireless and many have begun to make predictions. According to several rumors circulating on the web, a television series starring Magneto would be already under development on Disney +.
These rumors are currently not supported by any official news, and should be taken with due caution. If the series were in development right now, it would still take some time before we can see it on the small screen. It is speculated that the show will focus on origins of Magneto, without any connection to the Fox movies or any previous series. It has also been hinted that the character’s daughter will be introduced, Lorna Dane, known as the mutant Polaris.
Magneto was developed by Stan Lee 1963. After a period of traumatizing upbringing in Nazi-dominated Germany, the character grew up with the ideology that mutants are evolutionarily superior to human beings. This belief over time has caused huge conflicts between Magneto and Professor X, his longtime friend.
Magneto possesses immense power. He is capable of manipulate any form of magnetism, summon fields of force and possess a developed intelligence, which makes him one of the strongest mutants, almost on a par with a deity. This character has long been counted among the Marvel elite, and his popularity reached a new level when Ian McKellen took over the helm in the 2000s X-Men trilogy.
His characteristics and the motivations that push him to perform every action allow him to place him in a “gray area” together with other villains such as Thanos and the Baron Zemo. The latter was very well received by fans, especially after the series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, where he plays an important role, so Magneto represents a perfect villain on which to build a new story.
A crossover with the X-Men had been speculated by fans during the release of WandaVision, another big Disney + hit, but Evan Peters it turned out to be just a lure Aghata used to manipulate Wanda. A small cameo of the mutant Ursa Major however, it was inserted in Black Widow, released in theaters last summer and now accessible to everyone on Disney +. However, cameos and red herrings are not enough to fill the void in the MCU.
