Candidate minimizes Bolsonaro’s advance and says he has a consolidated campaign
The former president and candidate to the Planalto Palace Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) said this Friday (19.Aug.2022) that few people should change their vote. He also minimized the advance of his main adversary, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), in polls of voting intentions.
“I honestly didn’t see Bolsonaro’s advance in the campaign. I saw the maintenance of our campaign far ahead of Bolsonaro. I saw a growth [de Bolsonaro] within the margin of error that may fall in the next poll”declared the PT.
He refers to the movement captured by the Datafolha survey released on Thursday (Aug 18). Bolsonaro went from 29% to 32%, oscillation within the margin of error. Lula maintained the 47% of the previous survey.
In the series of research PowerDate, Lula’s distance ahead of Bolsonaro is 7 percentage points. It was already 10 points in June.
“What I think is that we have a consolidated campaign with Brazilian society”declared the PT in an interview with journalists in São Paulo.
He stated that his intention to vote in the spontaneous poll (when the names of candidates are not presented to the interviewee) is “almost the same” to the stimulated voting intention (when candidates are listed for the respondent).
“It means that you will have little prospect of changing the vote in this country. The vote is already consolidated”said Lula.
“People are deciding well in advance who will vote and who they want for president. And I think in that circumstance I think Alckmin and I are the preferred candidate.”declared.
