Ciro Gomes and Simone Tebet advance to 8% and 3%, respectively; other candidates remain
a new search Great/Quaest, released this Wednesday (31.Aug.2022), shows stability among the leading candidates in the race for the presidency of the Republic. the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) has 44% of voting intentions in the 1st round, against 33% of the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The difference between the two is the same recorded in the last survey carried out by Quaest, of 11 percentage points.
Both the PT and the chief executive varied by 1 percentage point less –within the margin of error– in relation to the last poll, released on August 17th. This is the 1st survey of the company after the interview of candidates in the “Jornal Nacional”.
The poll heard 2,000 voters from August 25 to 28, 2022 and is registered with the TSE under number BR-00585/2022. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points at a 95% confidence interval. It cost BRL 139,005.86 and was paid by Banco Genial SA
Unlike the leaders in the race, Ciro Gomes (PDT) and Simone Tebet (MDB) advanced. The pedetista rose 2 points and now has 8% of voting intentions. Already the emedebista rose 1 point and is with 3%.
Vera Lucia (PSTU) and Felipe D’Avila (New) have 1% each. Eymael (A.D), Sofia Manzano (PCB), Soraya Thronicke (Union) and Leo Pericles (UP) did not score. Voters who were undecided or who did not respond make up 6% of respondents; 5% said they will not vote.
2nd TURN
The survey also simulated a 2nd round between Lula and Bolsonaro. In this case, the PT has 51%, against 37% for the Chief Executive. 9% of respondents said they will not vote and 4% are undecided. The level of both, which varied in the margin of error, is also stable compared to the last survey (it was: Lula 50.1% X 38.8% Bolsonaro).
POWERDATA
Search PowerDate held from the 14th to the 16th of August shows that Lula has a 7 percentage point advantage over Bolsonaro in the 1st round. The PT has 44%; the president scores 37%.
Ciro Gomes (PDT) has 6%. Technically ties with Simone Tebet (MDB), who scores 4%, considering a margin of error of 2 percentage points. Sofia Manzano (PCB) appears with 1%.
It was the 1st time the PowerDate tested the names of Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil) and Roberto Jefferson (PTB) in the 1st round scenario. Neither of the 2 had enough mentions to score. Eymael (DC), Pablo Marçal (Pros), Felipe d’Avila (Novo), Vera Lúcia (PSTU) and Leonardo Péricles (UP) also did not reach 1%.
In an eventual 2nd round, Lula has an advantage of 14 points over Bolsonaro. The PT scores 52% against 38% for the president.
The survey was carried out by PowerDate, a company of the Poder360 Jornalismo group, with its own resources. Data were collected from August 14 to 16, 2022, through calls to cell phones and landlines. There were 3,500 interviews in 331 municipalities in the 27 units of the Federation. The margin of error is 2 percentage points. The confidence interval is 95%. The TSE registration is BR-02548/2022.
