Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said on Saturday (July 2, 2022) that Ukraine tried to attack military installations in the country 3 days ago. According to him, all the missiles were intercepted. The information is from Reuters.
Lukashenko declared that the country does not want conflict with Ukraine, but that it would fight if its own territory were invaded.
“They [ucranianos] andare teasing us. I must tell you, 3 days ago, maybe a little more, an attempt to attack military installations on Belarusian territory was made from Ukraine’s territory”, said Lukashenko. “But, thank God, the Pantsir anti-aircraft systems managed to intercept all the missiles launched by the Ukrainian armed forces.”
Belarus is an ally of Russia. Lukashenko’s government allowed the Kremlin to use the country to send troops to Ukraine in February — kicking off what Moscow calls “special military operation”.
Despite his support for Russia, Lukashenko said the country does not intend to “fight in ukraine”.
