Mexico City.- YouTuber Luisito Comunica was arrested in the Santo Domingo subway, Dominican Republic, for recording without prior authorization.
After the images went viral, in which he is seen escorted by the police, the influencer explained that the arrest was due to a violation of the subway regulations that prohibit filming within its facilities.
“Listen, everything is fine with the whole thing where they arrested me here in the Dominican Republic for filming on the subway and such. I see that many news stories are blowing it out of proportion, everything is in order. I was just filming on the subway where apparently it’s not allowed,” he commented in a video posted on social media. Luisito, 33, revealed that his companions had a more complicated experience, as they were handcuffed by the agents. He also said that the incident escalated to a rough level, but clarified that everything was resolved without further inconveniences.
“But it did escalate to a somewhat abrupt level, to be honest. My friends ended up in handcuffs. I’ll tell you all the details later, but in short, everything’s fine. We’re having an incredible time in the Dominican Republic and there are some great videos coming,” he said.
According to local reports, filming on the Santo Domingo subway requires special permits, intended to protect passengers’ privacy and maintain public order.
