According to the English tabloid ‘The Sun’, the English Football Federation (FA) has requested “extraordinary disciplinary measures” against the player Lucas Paquetá, who could face a life ban if convicted of match-fixing charges.
The investigation against Paquetá has intensified in recent days following the reopening of the case by the FA. It focuses on four specific matches: one against the Leicester in 2022, and three more against Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth in 2023.
The FA alleges that Paquetá was deliberately cautioned in these matches to financially benefit his friends. According to the report, up to 60 people bet in favor of the player’s warning in each of these matches, generating total profits of more than £100,000 (501,779,967 COP). The bets, which varied from seven to 400 poundsmostly originated in Rio de Janeiro, hometown of Paquetá.
