Lucas González has already found a job, and abroad: this is his new team

With this background, Lucas was hired by América de Cali in mid-2023. He had a difficult start and was on the verge of being fired, amid protests from the fans.

However, in America, the same thing happened to González as in Águilas: in the final phase the team did not respond and was eliminated from the grand final of the League, between Junior and Medellín, with the star going for the Barranquilla team.

When González had already designed the team for 2024, the América managers decided to terminate him less than a week before the start of the championship. In his place came the Venezuelan César Farías, who had also replaced him in Águilas Doradas.

After leaving América, González dedicated himself to analysis on a sports portal. But now he will return to coaching. It will be his first international experience as a group leader.

González was announced this Friday as coach of Central Córdoba, in the first division of Argentine soccer.

“Club Atlético Central Córdoba informs that Lucas González Vélez is the new coach of the professional team for the 2024 Tournament of the AFA Professional Football League, welcome to Ferroviario!” says the announcement published on social networks.

​González joins a team that has just finished in 12th place, among 14 teams, in group B of the Argentine League Cup, with just 11 points, 18 behind the first, Godoy Cruz.

He also has a complicated outlook in the relegation table, which works in a similar way to that of Colombian soccer: it is in 26th place among 28 teams, with an average of 1,125. He is only ahead of the two recently promoted: Riestra (0.929) and Independiente Rivadavia de Mendoza (0.571).
