The President Counselor of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Lorenzo Cordovaposted a video on his official Twitter account where He recalled the biggest challenges he had to go through.
They were nine years in which he was in front of the INEhighlighting the midterm elections that took place in the midst of the covid-19 contagion peaks or the so-called “plan B” of the electoral reform.
One of the main challenges was the change from IFE to INE in 2014, added to the fact that in 2015 they faced the challenge of social and teacher organizations against the elections.
In the almost four-minute video, he also spoke of how difficult it was to organize the 2018 elections, despite the “sharply tense and polarized environment”, where the INE faced “numerous disqualifications”.
Another one was presented in 2021, when they had to guarantee the health of the Mexicans who participated in the midterm elections, the popular consultation and even the revocation of the mandate.
Córdova considered that the budget cuts, disqualifications, criminal complaints and harassment against the directors were another of the challenges.
Finally, he mentioned the “plan B” of the electoral reform, a battle that is not yet over, in his words, since he considers that it puts institutional capacities at risk, something on which the certainty, legality, transparency and credibility of the elections depend. elections in Mexico.
