The ‘cum laude’ student obtains a prestigious scholarship to study at the College of Europe in Brussels, after completing the double degree in Business Administration and Law
The academic excellence of Lorena Tristante Pellicer (San Pedro del Pinatar, 1999) is present in each of her words. The diction, the vocabulary and the “thank you” always in front of her give her away. Her personality is intuited in her concern about not wanting to appear pretentious “because I’m not.” So much so that Lorena insists that there is nothing extraordinary in her brilliant story. “I do not have a privileged mind, nor do I have exceptional abilities. I am hard-working, organized and constant. A normal young woman, with her eyes wide open, who likes to squeeze the opportunities out of life». In fact, it causes her some anxiety to enter the professional network Linkedin and take a look at the published trajectories. “Where do they find time to cover so many things?” she asks herself.
At 23 years old, Tristante has not fallen short and surely more than one could question the same referring to her. After completing the double degree in Business Administration and Law at the University of Murcia with 25 and 24 honors, respectively, the last week of August he will head to Belgium to study the European Union Master’s Degree in Law at the prestigious College of Europe located in witches To do this, she will use one of the best scholarships to study postgraduate degrees from the Ramón Areces Foundation. «This generous aid will allow me to study the Master. My family couldn’t afford it for me, “the young woman acknowledges gratefully.
Choosing a destination to complete her university studies was complex because Lorena was admitted to four relevant centers. Not so deciding her degree because she was always passionate about Law. Of course, she resigned due to the fear of her family and her own, although it is difficult for her to admit it, to study in Madrid. «When I finished Baccalaureate, I considered taking a double degree in Law and International Relations in the capital. But the attachment to my parents and the concern for such a sudden change at that age got the better of me. In spite of everything, I do not regret it”, indicates Lorena.
«You have to value life and take advantage of every opportunity that arises along the way. And go out looking for them!”
José Antonio Tristante, a salesperson by profession, and Anabel Pellicer, an unemployed housewife, have had to assume that the interests of their only daughter, and the first in the family to set foot in a university, will almost certainly take her outside geographical limits. region of. “I owe everything to my parents. They are the mirrors in which I look at myself as fighters and the education in solid values that they have provided me. Now, they support me despite not sharing my adventurous spirit”, explains the young woman.
breaking stereotypes
The student from Pinata began to excel at an early age in the public school Nuestra Señora del Carmen, in Lo Pagán, and later in the San Pedro Apóstol Concerted Educational Center, in the municipality of Pinatar. Despite the early manifestation of her talent, she has not felt rejected, although she has helped classmates to put an end to the stereotype that by studying and getting good grades she cannot be the most partying of the group.
Among his academic achievements is the Extraordinary Prize of the Region in ESO and Baccalaureate, a stage that culminated with an average of 10. In selectivity he obtained a 13.79 and also won the educational contests ‘What is a king for you?’, ‘Letter to a Spanish soldier’ and the regional Philosophy Olympiad, which led him to the National Championship. During his formative period, he took the opportunity to do an Erasmus at Trinity College Business School, in Dublin, Ireland, and enjoyed a scholarship to study for a semester at Rhodes College, in Memphis, United States. As if that were not enough, Tristante is fluent in English and French, in addition to Spanish. She defines the German language as her Achilles’ heel, after five years studying it, and in her spare time she goes into Italian.
Promising future
Now, having just finished her internship at the Garrigues law firm, she will spend a couple of weeks in Estonia as a monitor for a cultural exchange camp organized by the Murcia City Council. She has preferred to leave the month of August free to say goodbye to her people.
Tristante faces the future calmly. “My priority is to make the most of my stay in Brussels. I am going to train and learn what I can to be an excellent candidate tomorrow. I hope that many doors will open for me in European Union law.”
Without any recipe for success, which she places more on “being satisfied with what you do every day” than on applause and recognition, she understands that “you have to value life and take every option that arises, even look for them. For those who want to work, paths are opened”, insists Lorena Tristante.
“The students of the Region are more and better prepared than we think”
Lorena Tristante highlights the capacity for effort and tenacity of the students of the Region. Aptitudes that she discovered and learned to value while studying abroad. «We have a certain inferiority complex and there is nothing more than going abroad and knowing other educational systems to take the pulse of the level. We Murcians are prepared like everyone else to face the professional career that we propose. In the Region of Murcia there is a lot of talent. I recommend everyone to go out, see and compare. It is an amazing experience. You come back with a renewed vision and quite high self-esteem”, Lorena encourages. Likewise, she acknowledges that she has not studied outside of it as much as at the University of Murcia, where throughout her career she found a team of “professional and humane teachers of the first order, just like her classmates.” The friends she has made of her are also part of learning from her. «Discovering people of other nationalities, their cultures and tastes, is enriching. Living diversity opens your mind. The people you leave at each port is the most wonderful thing about these experiences », she admits with her characteristic smile.
