Libraries | The renovation of Kallio’s library was completed – The new furniture was made to order

During the renovation, the collection halls, comics room and gallery received new furniture made by carpenters.

The rock the renovated second floor of the library will open on the library’s 110th anniversary on October 1.

The architecturally valuable library’s new furniture has been custom-made by the carpenters of Stara, the city of Helsinki’s construction services company.

The library’s approximately 250 square meter second floor has been closed for renovations since mid-June. The premises on the first and third floors have been in use throughout the renovation.

The library, completed in 1912, was designed by the then city architect Karl Hård af Segerstad. The building with classical influences is protected.

On the day of the celebration, the library organizes plenty of programs for all ages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
