What did Gallagher say about Swift and Albarn?
In a recent NME interview, Liam Gallagher was asked if he thinks collaborative songwriting is “real”. He responded with a direct mention of Damon Albarn, and even mentioned his brother Noel Gallagher.
“Who says? All those damn Gorillaz albums are co-authors, right? I get it, Noel also insists on it: ‘I’m more important than you because I write my damn songs,’ ” he said, referring to his former bandmate, with whom he hasn’t had a good relationship for years.
In addition, the interpreter of “Wall of glass” defended Taylor Swift and recognized the ‘swifties’ for the support they gave the artist: “Well, he (Damon Albarn) will not say that again in a hurry, right ? Didn’t the ‘swifties’ kick him out of the fucking city? I think (Taylor Swift) is fucking great. She writes her songs and I’m sure she co-wrote with the people.”

How did this conflict start?
Earlier this year, Damon Albarn gave an interview to the LA Times. Within the conversation, the musician was asked what he thought of collaborative composition. He replied, “That doesn’t count. I know what cowriting is. Cowriting is very different from writing. Taylor Swift doesn’t write her own songs. I’m not hating on anyone, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. It doesn’t mean the result can’t be really good.”
Likewise, he was encouraged to make a comparison between Billie Eilish and the interpreter of “All too well”. She continued her message like this: “A really interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish and her brother. I’m more attracted to that than Taylor Swift. It’s just darker, less infinitely optimistic. Much more minor and strange. I think it’s exceptional.”
