South Korean consumer electronics and technology company LG Electronics said on March 18 that it would temporarily not ship its products to Russia.
“LG Electronics is suspending all shipments to Russia and will continue to closely monitor developments in the situation,” reads a release on site companies.
The company is “concerned about the health and safety of all people.”
LG Electronics produces consumer electronics and mobile phones, and has long been one of the top three in the market. The company was founded in 1958 and is headquartered in Seoul.
On March 18, State Duma deputy Yevgeny Fedorov proposed a 10-year ban on the work of foreign companies that had left Russia if they did not resume their activities before May 1.
Against the backdrop of the introduction of economic and political sanctions by a number of countries, some international companies have suspended work in the Russian Federation.
Earlier on Friday, the American company Apple refused to sell the new iPhone SE, Mac Studio and the updated iPad Air in Russia from the spring presentation. On March 2, Apple announced that the sale of its products was suspended in Russia. It was noted that the work of Apple Pay and other services is limited.
Suspensions have also been announced in recent weeks by Carlsberg, Pull & Bear, Heineken, IKEA, Microsoft, IBM, Shell, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Zara, H&M, Massimo Dutti, Yum! Brands, the international delivery service DHL, the automobile companies Porsche, Audi and BMW, the British online store ASOS and others. Sales of luxury brands Chanel, LV, Rolex, Cartier, Balenciaga have also stopped. Netflix, BBC, CNN have stopped broadcasting in Russia.
Against the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing operation to protect the Donbass, a number of brands have decided to suspend work in the country.
