To the Goodwood Festival of Speed the Japanese brand Lexus brought the prototype Electrified Sport Conceptthat is the car considered heir of the LFA. Visitors to the British event were the first to see the car live, previously shown mostly in digital format. Along with the concept, the RZ 450e electric SUV, the electric crossover UX 300e and NX 450h +, a plug-in hybrid car, were also present on the Lexus stand.
Lexus has posted some pictures and details of the carcertainly aggressive in its basic aesthetic approach. Note the aerodynamic shape not only of the front and tail, but also of elements such as the mirrors. The channeling of the flows should give the car some advantages in aerodynamic terms, and more innovations are expected from Lexus on the functioning of some details; one notices in particular a characteristic shape of the bonnet, which evidently is not there only as a cover.
According to Lexus, this model “represents the vision of a high-performance all-electric sports car, a foretaste of what the future may hold as the company evolves to become a luxury brand dedicated to battery electric vehicles“. The Japanese brand expects very interesting data for a production version of this concept: the heir of the LFA may be able to reach acceleration from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in less than two secondswhile the potential use of new solid-state battery technology could guarantee a driving range of more than 700 kilometers.
The model was first unveiled on December 14, 2021, when Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motor Corporation, unveiled a staggering number of new electric or electrified models from the Toyota and Lexus brands. Clearly this sports car, which at the rear recalls in some ways the shapes of the racing cars of the sixties and also the very light and perky British racing cars, is an exercise in style as well as a declaration of technological intent.
