Letta has the eyes of the tiger: “60 contestable colleges”
Enrico Letta he does not believe that the outcome of the elections is already written. Also strengthened by the SWG survey, which shows that 50% of Italians have not yet decided who to vote for, encourages those on the list led by the Democratic Party to play the game to the end: “This hyper majority twist tells us that to stop the right and avoiding this risk for democracy there is only the vote for us, for the Democratic and Progressive Italy list and for the center-left coalition. In these 17 days we have to fight because we are there 60 single-member colleges which are contestable. In those colleges, our growth would bring the game back into a contestable logic ”, he explained in a speech to the candidates.

“A more 4% of the vote would allow us to keep the right below 55% and bring the game back into the sphere of contestability. A plus four percent of the votes given to Calenda or given to Conte is removed from the Democratic Party will give seventy percent of seats in parliament to the right. The worst electoral law that our country has seen could give a nightmare scenario: with 43% of the votes the right could reach 70% of the seats in parliament ”. This was stated by the secretary of the Democratic Party Enrico Letta in the speech to the candidates supported by the Democratic Party.
Letta: “The right has not already won”
“There are three misperceptions that are spreading across the country. The first, an announced victory of the right and therefore a climate of free all: ‘The right has already won, so at that point why vote for a party that is more able to beat it than others? The risk is that instead of the useful vote there is the vote of lightness, superficiality. The vote for the lists of Calenda and Conte it is objectively, today, a help for the victory of the right: one wants to run the government with Meloni, the other has the support of Trump, we listened to him yesterday. First wrong perception then: the right has already won, it is useless to fight, we might as well give the vote lightly and superficially. center-right, ”adds Letta.

“Second wrong perception: they will not rule. They will win, but they will not govern, because they will melt immediately afterwards and at that point the cards will be reshuffled in Parliament; it will be like a false start, but then everything will return to normal. Very wrong perception, because with a large victory of the right, the cards will reshuffle, but within the right. All those who are outside the right will have no say ”.
Letta: “If the right wins, there will be no EU to save us”
For Letta there is also a third wrong perception. The vulgate according to which “so much Europe in the end saves usas much as they cannot make us fail, anyway they will fix it, from Brussels ”.
“It’s a very wrong third perception that reminds me a lot of what happened in the UK before the Brexit vote. They thought this way and in the end many did not go to vote, because they did not think it would be so decisive. Yet that vote, once given, remained forever, as it should be. Because the vote in democracy cannot imagine a subsequent cancellation. Once you’ve voted, those are the consequences. Here is the third wrong perception: afterwards someone else will not save us, it is up to us today, in the electoral campaign and in the vote, to save ourselves, to save Italy ”.
