It is already 52 years of this tradition to remember and honor Christ, but it has not been carried out for two years due to the pandemic.
They trust that Bishop Mario Espinosa can authorize it. “It is very nice because it feels so real, they are real blows, there are people who go to the crossroads and try to defend me for the whipping I receive, since I was a child I wanted to participate, it feels nice because one transmits suffering, even me family cries”, expressed Ricardo Arias.
Even tourists from Mexico City have attended to commemorate the passion of Christ. The cross that Ricardo will carry in the event that such a viacrucis is carried out will weigh more than 120 kilos and travel almost 3 kilometers.
They would start from scratch because with the past hurricanes the house where they kept all the objects was damaged, this caused all the material such as wood to be lost.
In the next week they would look for an answer because they would have to prepare too far in advance.
From the beginning with the typical dishes, the people fast, in this way the inhabitants of Malpica manifest their faith.
“We live the 40 days of Lent to the fullest because the participants each start to work on their own, from going to the hill to cutting the crosses, the people help us, normally we make a taquiza and sell tickets, there are some who even they donate their stews,” said Ricardo Arias.

The inhabitants will request the support of the municipal government to rehabilitate the square and build another gazebo, they need resources to carry out the commemoration, they will also carry out other activities to raise more money.
