Leclerc with the Paris 2024 Olympic torch
It was a special day for Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver was in fact the protagonist of the passage of the Olympic torch in Monte-Carlo: at 2.15 pm, in front of the statue of Juan Manuel Fangio (after the La Rascasse curve), Leclerc walked with the Flame and then handed it over to the skier Alexandra Coletti.
Leclerc’s words
“It is a great honor for me to be able to bring the Olympic Flame here, to my home country. I’m very very proud“, Leclerc commented to the microphones of TV Munich.
This is the second time that the Flame passes through Monaco: the first time happened in 1968, before the Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble.
The Flame, lit in Olympia last April 16, will arrive in Paris for the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Games on July 26. Other torchbearers of the ceremony were tennis player Xiaoxin Yang, bobsleigh player Rudy Rinaldi, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene.
