The front and profile look very familiar, but the new Range Rover does get a remarkable rear. The darkened tail lamp clusters are connected by a black trim that accentuates the width of the body, a trick they previously applied to the facelift of the Land Rover Discovery.
The interior also forgets to surprise, although the new steering wheel and the floating display of the PivoPro infotainment system look very slick.
Also electric
The main novelty, however, lies in the stylish exterior. After all, the new Range Rover is based on the flexible MLA architecture that would have four-wheel steering and which can handle different motorizations. In addition to units with classic combustion engines, the new Range Rover will also be available with plug-in hybrid and 100% electric powertrains.
When sales start in 2022, you may be able to choose between a mild-hybrid six-in-line (gasoline or diesel) and a plug-in-hybrid four-in-line that uses an electric motor to boost the system power to 400 hp. There is also talk of a 4.4 liter V8 of BMW origin, because the beloved 5 liter V8 from Jaguar Land Rover would not have survived the stricter CO2 regulations. The electric Range Rover would only follow at a later stage, as a playmate of the Mercedes-EQ G-Class.
The official info, including additional footage of the new Range Rover, will follow on October 26, 2021.
