Curious exchange between Kamui Kobayashi and Antonio Fuoco during the press conference at the end of the 24h of Le Mans.
Once the podium ceremony was over with the crowning of the Ferrari #50 crew led by the Calabrian together with Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, the drivers gathered in the room on the third floor above the pits of the Circuit de la Sarthe for the post-race interviews.
The Maranello standard-bearers obviously sat in the middle, on whose right they had their rivals from Toyota, with the Japanese driver-team principal flanked by José Maria Lopez and Nyck De Vries.
Having passed the word to the latter, after the intervention of ‘Pechito’ it was Kobayashi’s turn to comment on a 24h race which ended in second place and here, to everyone’s amazement, a curious background emerged which the Japanese told without filters.

“I overtook Antonio at the ‘Indianapolis’ braking point in the middle of the night at 320 km/h and I did that to him from the window,” says the driver of the GR010 Hybrid #7, showing an eloquent middle finger.
“He saw me, we looked into each other’s eyes and I showed him the gesture because I noticed he turned his head towards me. I knew he saw me because he went ‘Yes!’ with the boss!”
“After the race he came to ask me who was behind the wheel at that moment and I told him that I was there! For me, overtaking at that speed, in the middle of the night and at that point was the best moment of the whole race competition!”
Needless to say, the story sparked open applause and endless laughter, with Kobayashi and Fuoco exchanging smiles and pats on the back… because this is also the charm of Le Mans!
