Errors in sequence
The 24 Hours of Le Mans at BMW couldn’t have started worse. In fact, the two M Hybrid V8s were the negative protagonists of the first two hours of the racestanding out above all for driving errors that relegated them both to the back-up positions in this first phase of the race.
In April the dances with the exits were there #15 which after about 20′ ended outside in La Chapelle, managing to return to the track without too much damage, after a few maneuvers and after being passed by the entire group of Hypercars. The mistake, in the crew which also includes Raffaele Marciello, was committed by the German Marco Wittmann.
#20 stops in the pits
Less than two hours later The Dutch Robin Frijns did even worse, bearer of the sister car, the #20. In fact, after some very fast laps, the former F1 driver made a mistake going to seriously damage your BMW against barriers.
A very hard blow arrived in the Ford Chicanes stretch which forced the Orange driver to complete a lap practically on three wheels given the obvious damage suffered to the left rear suspension. Frijns is then slowly returned to the pits, where his car is destined to remain for many hours. The mechanics will have to try to repair the car, but even if it returns to the track – which is not a given – it will now be very far from any chance of a good result.
