The autonomous community of Catalonia received in 2023 about 3,000 million euros more than Madrid in current transfers for real investments and recognized obligations, according to the dbudget execution data that the Government has detailed to Junts in a parliamentary response.
Specifically, it was the Junts deputy Josep Maria Cruset who addressed the Executive to find out in detail the degree of budget execution for the year 2023 of both Catalonia and Madrid, since since their training have criticized “underfinancing” on numerous occasions which in his opinion Catalonia suffers compared to the Madrid community.
However, as detailed by the Government in a text collected by Europa Press, last year it was the Catalan community that received the most, specifically a total amount of 10,541,699,606.71 euros, while the balance of budget execution in Madrid in those chapters was 7,709,020,507.89 euros.
This makes the difference between both communities in 2023 exactly 2,832,679,098.82 euros in favor of the Catalan community.
Negotiations for the PGE
The Government and Junts are in full negotiations to obtain the support of Puigdemont’s supporters both for the deficit path and for the General State Budget of 2025, after the Executive has already made four failed attempts to approve what is known as the ceiling. of expense.
The spokesperson for the independence party, Miriam Nogueras, called on the PSOE to think about “do different things” with the accounts because their formation is not going to support the Government’s proposal “in exchange for nothing” and its condition is that the accounts presented by the Executive “really improve the situation in Catalonia.”
In this context, Cruset wants to take advantage of the Government control session in Congress next Wednesday to ask the first vice president and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, if the Government “has met previous budgets.”
