The riders of the men's, women's and paracycling squads had expressed their concern this Tuesday about the cessation of activities, through a letter sent to the ministry and the Colombian Paralympic Committee.
“As athletes committed to promoting cycling in our country, we are aware of the importance of having the necessary support and backing to continue moving forward.” and representing Colombia in national and international competitions,” he adds.
“I am in charge of 12 athletes and 10 more people from the support group, but today they do not have work after the decision made,” Rocío Parrado, in charge of the women's team, told EL TIEMPO.
Mindeporte's response: support is suspended
“The Ministry of Sports, headed by Minister Luz Cristina López Trejos, after analyzing the structure of the support contract for the Colombia Potencia de la Vida cycling teams, “has decided, in common agreement with the Colombian Paralympic Committee, to suspend its implementation process due to circumstances of a legal nature that were under review,” says the entity's statement.
“In the coming weeks, the decisions made after the legal and contractual analysis of the project will be communicated. We understand the inconvenience that this process can bring for cyclists and Para cyclists; That is why we work to respond to their concerns as soon as possible,” he adds.
