Double pole and two victories out of two (three in total that he won this year) for Amaury Bonduel, who dominates in the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europa at Spa.
On his home track, the same one where two years ago he achieved his first success in the Sant’Agata Bolognese single-brand championship, the driver of the Belgian team BDR Competition by Grupo Prom also jumped to the lead in the Pro classification, overtaking the team’s pairing Target Racing formed by Largim Ali and Oliver Söderström.
In Race 1 victory went to Roee Meyuhas and Renaud Kuppens (Boutsen VDS) in the Pro-Am, Stéphane Tribaudini and Piergiacomo Randazzo (VSR) in the Am and Holger Harmsen (GT3 Poland) in the Lamborghini Cup.
A red flag stopped Race 2 early, which for safety reasons and the little time remaining available was not restarted. With the finishing order frozen on the sixth lap and the score halved, Bonduel prevailed again.
Andrea Frassineti and Ignazio Zanon (VSR) achieved their first victory in the Pro-Am, in which Stefan Rosina and Bronek Formanek, second in Race 1 with the colors of Micanek Motorsport powered by Buggyra, confirmed the leadership achieved in the previous round in Imola.
Double podium for Stéphan Guerin in the Am, with the Schumacher CLRT team car achieving a third place and a victory; second place for Pietro Perolini and Davide Roda (Oregon Team), still leading the standings with just one point ahead of Randazzo and Tribaudini. Also in Race 2, first victory in the Lamborghini Cup for Paolo Biglieri and Petar Matić with the ASR team; Holger Harmsen (GT3 Poland) maintains the championship lead.
RACE 1
PRO
With 52 Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2s on the grid, Race 1 gets underway with poleman Bonduel firmly in command. Behind him Alberto Di Folco immediately joins Mattia Michelotto, but at the Raidillon he is forced to lift his foot and takes third place.
Three positions gained for Paul Levet, fourth ahead of Giorgio Amati, who was in turn followed by Egor Orudzhev. On the fourth lap Michelotto, author of the fastest lap of 2’21″379, approaches Bonduel and two laps later tries to pass him at Malmedy but gets upset, puts two wheels on the gravel and returns to second.
Meanwhile, Amati follows in Levet’s wake. On the eighth lap, due to Davide Roda going off the track, the safety car was called into action and everyone took advantage of the situation to make the pit stop almost simultaneously.
The first to return to the track is Benedetto Strignano, who took Di Folco’s place in the Rexal Villorba Corse car. Bonduel, who runs in a single crew, has to pay three seconds more in the stop than the others and slips third behind Gilles Stadsbader (who in turn took over Michelotto).
With 16’15” remaining the restart. Levet immediately out. Then a carambola, which involves several cars and once again requires the intervention of the safety car. With just over two minutes available, another restart. Strignano initially maintains first position ahead of Bonduel, who however managed to pass him on the last lap.
Stadsbader in turn is pulled away by Jesse Salmenautio and eventually ends up wide of Pouhon together with Orudzhev, with the result that both fall to the bottom. Strignano and Di Folco finished second, also celebrating their first podium of the season. Terzi Amati and Salmenautio, in turn driving brilliantly in the Iron Lynx car.
PRO-AM
In the Pro-Am, Meyuhas (already the fastest in his class in qualifying) took the lead, occupying ninth place overall. After the first safety car and the pit stops, the Boutsen VDS team car is still in the lead, now in the hands of Kuppens. Instead, Ignazio Zanon turns at the end of the straight.
Even after the second neutralization, Kuppens remained ahead of everyone and took the victory. Behind him, Formanek, who together with Rosina conquered other important points, consolidating the leadership of the ranking. Third was the other Iron Lynx pairing of Claude-Yves Gosselin and the 19-year-old Transalpine Joran Leneutre.
AM
From pole, Tribaudini leads in the Am class. Davide Roda spins at La Source after a contact with Huilin Han and shortly afterwards Rodrigue Gillion also spins. Roda himself, with a previously damaged wheel, ends up getting stuck in Fagne, causing the first neutralization. After the safety car and the stops, Randazzo confirmed his lead, with the VSR team car crossing the finish line ahead of Han and Guerin.
LAMBORGHINI CUP
Donovan Pritelio takes the lead in the Lamborghini Cup. Shota Abkhazava further away. A situation that remains unchanged even after the pit stops and the initial safety car. Then the accident involving Luciano Privitelio and giving the green light to Harmsen.
Abkhzava was penalized 30″ for an irregularity in the pit stop and a further ten seconds due to a contact. Matić and Biglieri took second place ahead of Charlie Martin.
RACE 2
PRO
Bonduel “flies” at the start, immediately taking the lead and giving the impression of being able to pull ahead of Hampus Ericsson, who in the meantime has gained a position by moving up to second, imitated in turn by Orudzhev, who comes in third. Jean-Baptiste Mela, who started from the front row, slipped to fourth ahead of Ali.
However, on the first lap Harmsen’s accident calls for the safety car, eliminating the distances. Upon re-start the first three positions remain unchanged. Bonduel set the fastest lap of 2’20″801 and increased his lead over Ericcson, who was also busy responding to Orudzhev’s attacks.
Then the second neutralization, which coincides with the opening of the pit stop window, and the red flag that stops everything.
PRO-AM
Frassineti maintains the leadership after starting from pole in his class. After the first safety car, the VSR team driver remains in front, occupying seventh place overall. LAMBORGHINI CUP
Biglieri gets off to a good start, taking the lead. Harmsen instead arrives wide at La Source and ends up hitting Stefano Pezzucchi’s car causing a first neutralization. A further contact in the meantime causes Martin to slip behind, who had been fastest in her class in qualifying.
Alfredo Hernandez Ortega goes second, with Serge Doms a little further back. He sets off again with the ASR team car always in front. Luciano Privitelio turns instead. Karim Ojjeh goes back to second, followed by Abkhazava. Then the contact between Martin and Ruffini and the red flag.
Amaury Bonduel, BDR Competition by Grupo Prom: “I am happy, especially with the victory obtained in Race 1, in front of the many people and friends who came here to Belgium to follow me during this weekend. A very important weekend for me in From the perspective of the championship. Yesterday, in the initial stages Michelotto was very fast, especially on the straight, and we engaged in a good fight. Regarding the last part of the race, I saw that I had greater momentum and tried to pass Strignano’s car at La Source, but he then passed me again. In the end I tried a maneuver on the outside of the Brussels and fortunately it worked. In Race 2 I took the lead and stayed there until the red flag.”
The next round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will take place in Le Mans, in the same week as the 24 Hours (11-15 June), when the milestone of 200 races disputed during the 16 editions of the championship reserved for the cars of the Sant’Antonio manufacturer will be celebrated. ‘Agata Bolognese.
