Dmitry Kozak, deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, and Jens Pötner, foreign policy adviser to the German Chancellor, will meet in January to discuss Ukraine. The parties agreed on this in a telephone conversation, transfers dpa agency citing a source in government circles.
During the conversation, Plötner called for a de-escalation of the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border and stressed the need to discuss what is happening in the “Normandy format” with the participation of France.
“The goal of the German side is to achieve the speedy restoration of the Normandy format,” the agency notes.
Earlier, the Ukrainian authorities clarified their position on the delay in the implementation of the Minsk agreements. According to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, the delay arose due to inaccuracies and controversial wording that make up the document.
