Kevin Mier: the dramatic injury of the Nacional goalkeeper in the classic paisa

However, the most difficult moment of the classic for Atlético Nacional occurred in the 62nd minute, when goalkeeper Kevin Mier fell to the ground with visible gestures of pain. Immediately, the team doctors ran to help him.

Miér threw himself to the ground and immediately put his hand to one of his ankles, while the doctors tried to comfort him.

Finally, coach Paulo Autuori made the decision to send Harlen Castillo onto the field, while Mier was taken off the playing field on a stretcher.

The goalkeeper born in Barrancabermeja was taken directly to the back of Nacional’s dressing room, waiting for a diagnosis about the injury he suffered.

Formed in Atlético Nacional, Mier appeared as a substitute in the first team in 2019, when he was part of the Colombia U-20 team. He was loaned that same year to Independiente Santa Fe, where he did not play any games.

After a stint in B in Valledupar, in 2020, Mier returned to Nacional and gradually gained the starting position. He has played 57 league games with the green shirt.

Nacional has not yet given the official diagnosis of the goalkeeper’s injury.
