The Crisis Committee coordinated by the Federal Police of Amazonas said this Friday (June 17, 2022) that there is 1 arrest warrant for one more suspect for the disappearance and death of journalist Dom Phillips and indigenist Bruno Pereira. The request was made by the State Court of Atalaia do Norte. Here’s the intact of the press release (143 KB).
The name of the 3rd suspect is Jeferson da Silva Lima, aka “Dina’s Peel”. The Federal Police and the State Civil Police have not yet located him. He is considered a fugitive.
On Wednesday (June 15, 2022), the Justice had already asked for the temporary arrest for consecutive days of Oseney de Oliveira dos Santos, the 2nd suspect. The PF (Federal Police) confirmed this Friday (June 17, 2022) that part of the remains found in Vale do Javari, in Amazonas, belong to British journalist Dom Phillips.
Osney, known as “Dos Santos” is the brother of Amarildo Oliveira dos Santos, the 1st suspect arrested, called “Naked“. He was arrested on Tuesday (June 14) by the Federal Police and, after undergoing interrogation, was taken to a custody hearing in Atalaia do Norte (AM).
On Thursday (June 9), the judge had already decreed the temporary arrest of Amarildo for 30 days. He was arrested during an approach for possession of drugs and 762 caliber ammunition, of restricted use, while also carrying hunting weapons.
Amarildo confessed this Wednesday (June 15) to having helped to hide the bodies of the journalist and the indigenist, after they were murdered. He also said that he was not responsible for the executions, which would have been by gunshots.
The English journalist Dom Phillips and the Brazilian indigenist Bruno Araújo Pereira had been missing since June 5, in the state of Amazonas. Both were last seen in the Javari Valley, a region close to the border with Peru.
