Referee Edilson Ariza ran to show Hinestroza the red card, but received a call from the VAR, in charge of Jorge Duarte, to review the play again.
After seeing the play on the screens, Ariza decided to change his decision and instead of receiving a red card, Hinestroza received a yellow card in the 68th minute.
Ten minutes later there was another much-discussed move. The goalkeeper of Nacional, Kevin Mier, lowered a ball and when he tried to serve, he hit the steering wheel of Junior Didier Moreno.
Ariza initially sanctioned a penalty in favor of Junior and admonished the goalkeeper. However, a new call from the VAR made him review the play.
In the end, the judge determined that there was a previous grab by Moreno and that is why he reversed the maximum penalty. However, he considered that Mier’s blow was an attack and that is why he ended up expelling the Nacional goalkeeper.
Subsequently, the VAR detected a hand in the Nacional area and Ariza sanctioned the penalty that allowed Edwuin Cetré to score the final 3-1.
