Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has called to testify Moncloa advisor Cristina Álvarez as a witness next December 20 in the case against Begoña Gómez, wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.
In a ruling to which EFE has had access, the judge summons Álvarez, who transferred the insurance company Reale in early 2024 the interest that Gómez had in continuing to finance the chair which she directed at the Complutense University, although in the end this collaboration did not continue as appears in the case summary.
Peinado investigates Begoña Gómez for the alleged crimes of influence peddling, business corruption and, a few days ago, for alleged misappropriation and intrusion in relation to the contracting of software from the chair that he co-directed at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
In the work summary an email sent by Álvarez, director of Presidential Programs, from a personal account to the director of Communication at Reale.
“Begoña tells me to send you that He would love for you to continue as patrons of the chair, even if it is with a smaller amount. Willing to collaborate with you in whatever you need,” writes Álvarez, who also appears in the chain of messages that Gómez has provided to the judge to try to demonstrate that there was no misappropriation or intrusion.
Although the popular accusations appearing in the case have requested that she be cited as being investigated, given that they appreciate that she could have incurred the crime of embezzlement, the judge has decided listen to her as a witness at 11:30 a.m. on December 20, two days after the appointment of Begoña Gómez herself, in her case as under investigation.
