What are the most significant challenges that the 2025 Jubilee poses for Rome and Italy? How will the eternal city be able to manage the influx of millions of pilgrims and tourists expected in the capital? What will be the main economic and social impacts of the Holy Year? And, above all, how will the Jubilee contribute to relaunching the image of Rome and the country on the global scene?
These are some of the most significant questions that we will try to answer on the occasion of the event “Jubilee 2025: the challenge of hospitality and the global future of Rome”, promoted byLa Scossa Associationchaired by Francesco Delzio, and scheduled at the headquarters ofDire news agency today, Monday 15 April, starting at 5.30 pm, in Corso d'Italia 38/A in Rome. Among others, the Councilor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of Rome Capital Alessandro Onorato and the head of the Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi Don Remo Chiavarini will also participate in the initiative.
The Jubilee, in fact, is now upon us and time is running out. Preparations and construction sites are in full swing in the city in view of the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica on December 24th. A fundamental appointment for the present and future of Rome and Italy, for the success of which requires a concerted effort on the part of all the institutional, economic and social actors involved in various capacities: Italy and the Vatican, the Capitol and the Government, the public and the private sector. And, obviously, the representative and trade associations, the territorial organizations and all citizens.
“The Jubilee will be an incredible growth opportunity for Rome, which will be ready to welcome the over 35 million arriving pilgrims and tourists. Collaboration between the institutions will be fundamental,” said Alessandro Onorato, Councilor for Sport, Tourism, Fashion and Major Events of Roma Capitale.
“We are working to enhance alternative itineraries to the classic ones. For example, by the Jubilee we will equip and promote 9 new unconventional pedestrian tourist routes between parks, villas and historic streets. We have also foreseen” – continues Onorato – “innovative and digital tools to improve user experience. Rome has new appeal and the many funds from the Jubilee and the Pnrr will allow us to make up for a lot of time lost in the past”.
“The next Jubilee will be an event of extraordinary importance not only for the Catholic world, but also for Rome and for the Italian system”, commented Delzio, who also holds the role of Jubilee 2025 Manager for Confindustria, according to whom “we are faced with a historic opportunity to define a new global positioning of the Capital, after at least 15 critical years in terms of economic development, management of public services and the reputation of the Eternal City, and a very demanding stress test with respect to the reception system , mobility and safety”. Faced with these challenges – concluded the president of Scossa – “the veil of silence that a few months after its launch surrounds the impacts and effects of the Jubilee 2025 is surprising. As an Association and as aware citizens, we want to contribute to tearing this veil apart ”.
Together with the Councilor of Rome Capital Alessandro Onorato, the head of the Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi don Remo Chiavarini and the president of the La Scossa Association Francesco Delzio, the President of ANCE Giovani Angelica Donati and the President of Federalberghi Roma Giuseppe Roscioli will take part in the debate . The initiative, moderated by the journalist Benedetta Rinaldi, will be introduced by the director of the Dire Agency Nico Perrone and by Andrea Picardi, member of the association's board of directors.
