Juanfer Quintero shone and Iván Arboleda suffered in River’s triumph

River Plate beat Newell’s Old Boys 0-2 this Sunday in Rosario, in a game in which there was a lot of Colombian players, for better and for worse.

The goal that put River ahead was scored by Juan Fernando Quintero, who scored his second goal since returning to the club, after passing through Shenzen in China.

Quintero’s intelligence to put River ahead

Quintero had the intelligence to play first and send a bad rejection from the Colombian goalkeeper Iván Arboleda to the back of the local goal.

In the second goal, Arboleda was also compromised, by putting the body wrong and finishing putting a shot by Paraguayan Robert Rojas into his goal.

Quintero, who was playing his third game since returning to River, came on for the second half in place of Tomás Pochettino. It is the second goal that he has scored with the red band shirt: he had already scored for the Patronato on the last date.

Arboleda, meanwhile, had his third game as a starter at Newell’s on his return to Argentine soccer, after spending a semester at Rayo Vallecano without playing a single minute on the pitch.

Colombian defender Willer Ditta, a former Junior de Barranquilla player, also started at Newell’s.
