The first time that Jesus Luque Colque (22) He dreamed of being the protagonist of a story was when as a child he heard the writer Mario Vargas Llosa read world literature in My Favorite Novel on the radio. That desire came true when he was chosen as the main actor in the Peruvian film Manco Cápac, a candidate for the Oscar Awards.
Embodying Elisbán and filming this feature film was a challenging adventure that began in 2016. Jesús says that came to the casting when he was 15 years old. They took the first and second tests. Two months later, Henry Vallejo, the film’s director, contacted him to move on to a third stage, a six-month acting workshop in Puno. “I had a hard time earning the role. After telling me that I had been selected, Henry suggested that I study in Puno, but I did not accept, so we recorded on weekends. I traveled almost three hours ”, he recalls.

To explain the effort involved in filming, Jesus details that a scene where he is in the middle of a crowd watching the La Candelaria festival, was recorded in three different years where he had to wear the same clothes, hairstyle and weight.
The actor hopes that he will be able to achieve the long-awaited Oscar statuette. “If it is achieved, it is due to the commitment of the director, the effort of the work team and the long hours,” he said.
