In 2024, the range of Jeep Avenger is enriched with the introduction of version a 4xe all-wheel drive. This variant features a powertrain 48 Volt hybrid (mild-hybrid) consisting of a 1.2 liter turbo petrol enginecoupled with two electric motors capable of providing traction to both the front and rear axles.
Jeep Avenger 4xe
The Jeep Avenger 4xe features a hybrid drive which does not use a traditional central driveshaft, but has a second electric motor mounted at the rear. This powertrain is combined with the combustion engine 1.2 liter turbo petrol hybrid at 48 Volts, connected to the front wheels; a choice that aims to maintain good off-road capabilities without excessively increasing the weight and above all the cost of the vehicle.
Jeep 4xe hybrid 48 Volt traction characteristics
The system of 48 volt hybrid drive eliminates the need for charging plugs, while still offering the performance needed to tackle off-road terrain. The powertrain consists of a 136 HP 1.2-litre PureTech turbo engine, combined with two electric powertrains positioned at the front and rear of the vehicle and powered by a 898 Wh lithium battery. Both electric motors have a power of 21 kW (29 hp) and they can work both independently of the heat engine and together with it.
The 4xe engine of the Jeep Avenger therefore reaches a maximum power of 136 HP, a speed of up to 194 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. It’s about 36 HP and 25 Nm more compared to the version e-Hybrid FWD two-wheel drive.
The system provides several driving modeincluding operation in all-electric mode for short distances at low speeds, and the possibility of using the combustion engine as energy generator. The system “power looping” it also allows the use of all-wheel drive even when the battery is flat.
Jeep features for off-road driving
The Jeep Avenger 4xe features significant improvements for the off-road drivingincluding improved approach, breakover and departure angles (22°, 21° and 35° respectively), a ground clearance of 210 mm (+10 mm) and a ford up to 400 mm. All-wheel drive is always available, and the 4xe engine, with a 22.7:1 reduction gear on the rear axle, delivers 1,900 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, allowing you to overtake 40% slopes on difficult terrain and by 20% in the absence of grip on the front axle.
The intelligent all-wheel drive system operates in permanent 4×4 mode up to 30 km/h with a 50:50 split. Between 30 and 90 km/hrear-wheel drive is activated on request, while over 90 km/h front-wheel drive becomes permanent to reduce fuel consumption.
The system Selec-Terrain allows you to choose between different modes: Car for daily driving with low CO2 emissions, Snow to improve stability in winter conditions, Sand&Mud for uneven terrain e Sport to maximize power and torque with thee-boost on the rear wheels.
The Jeep Avenger 4xe is equipped with rear suspension Multilinkan innovative system that improves the articulation of the rear axle and guarantees a high level of comfort on rough roads.
The Jeep Avenger 4xe stands out from other versions for some aesthetic details. At the front it features a bumper specially designed foroff-road, which features a specific cut in the lower part to improve the attack angle, as well as a central protection made of colored material with scratch-resistant finish.
The fog lights have been repositioned for greater protection, while the central air intake includes two colored inserts that add style, together with the small Yellow “X”. (similar to the “e” of the e-Hybrid versions), e they protect the ADAS sensors during minor frontal collisions. Other details include an anti-glare sticker on the bonnet, alloy wheels with M+S tyres as standard, rear tow hook, seats made of twice as resistant and completely waterproof material, and standard roof bars. THE All Terrain 3PMSF tires are available as optional.
Price
The starting price of the Jeep Avenger 4xe may vary between 26,000 and 30,000 eurosand orders will open by the end of 2024. With this variant, the Avenger range is completed and includes versions with petrol, 48 Volt hybrid, 100% electric and exactly 4xe.
