Second division soccer team Hamburger SV is expected to be without its winger Bakery Jatta for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old suffered a rupture of the syndesmosis in his left ankle during training and, according to a statement from HSV, “will be absent from the team for a long period of time.” After full-back Noah Katterbach (torn cruciate ligament), Jatta is the second player who will probably no longer be available this season. Striker Robert Glatzel is not fit again either. HSV found out about Jatta’s diagnosis on Wednesday. It is unclear whether and when the striker from Gambia will undergo surgery. Jatta had already missed several games at the start of the season due to a torn ligament. After his recovery, he was no longer the first choice under coach Steffen Baumgart, but the new coach Merlin Polzin relied on Jatta again in the 1-0 win against 1. FC Köln at the start of the year.
