The first free practice session of the Japanese GP, extended to the unusual duration of 75 minutes to compensate for the absence of a second session on the track today, once again saw the family excel Ducati. A very important signal for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, which was looking with a minimum of apprehension at the first stage of the extra-European ‘tour’ that awaits the World Championship. Instead the best two times were signed by the two drivers of the official team, Jack Miller And Pecco Bagnaiaseparated by just 28 thousandths in favor of the Australian.
In third place, however, the leader of the World Championship was positioned with Yamaha Fabio Quartararo, eager to cancel the highly thought-out zero cashed in Aragon. Fourth place for the other contender for the title, Aleix Espargarò, which confirms his and Aprilia’s good shape. Less positive was the day of the fourth wheel, Enea Bastianini, only 14th in the time table and also the victim of a fall in the final round.
The Honda HRC can smile instead: so be it Marc Marquez (6th) that Pol Espargarò (7th) in fact entered the top-10, closing the session behind Luca Marini. Rounding out the top ten names of these PL1s are also the two KTMs of Binder and Oliveira and the other Aprilia of Maverick Vinales.
