The starting forward of the current Euroleague champion becomes the first summer signing for the university team
Forward James Lee Anderson (Junction City, Arkansas, March 25, 1989) arrives at UCAM Murcia after four seasons in the NBA and seven in the Euroleague, where he was proclaimed champion of the continental competition twice. One of them in the last edition, where he came out in the starting five with Anadolu EFES. In his first participation with Zalgiris Kaunas, he became one of the tournament’s top scorers (14.5 points). An all-rounder at an offensive and defensive level at 33 years old and who occupies an American position. He is 1’98 meters tall and it is the first time he will play in the Endesa League.
He began his career at Oklahoma State University, where he was unleashed as a scorer. In his third and final year he averaged 23 points and 6 rebounds per game, which helped him become the 20th pick in the 2010 Draft, chosen by the San Antonio Spurs. Anderson played for four seasons in the best league in the world, wearing jerseys for four teams: Spurs, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76. In this last franchise, he played 80 games in which he averaged 10 points per game.
In his first appearance in the Euroleague, the American forward played with Zalgiris Kaunas in the 14/15 season, achieving his best scoring records with 14.5 points and 5 rebounds per game. These data made him one of the top scorers in that edition of the Euroleague and helped him return to the NBA. On his return to Europe, he played for Darussafaka and Russian Khimki before signing for Anadolu Efes where he achieved his greatest success. In the last four seasons he has established himself as one of the most important players of a historic team. Three consecutive Final Fours, where he managed to win two Euroleague titles in the last two seasons. At the end of this cycle, a multifaceted player lands in Murcia who has been able to adapt to a new role in a winning team, improving his defensive records and improving his three-point shot. In this last season he finished close to 50% in triple percentage.
