The Williams F1 team is back on track after a disastrous season. Come on, they did secure a world title, just not for themselves. But this season the drivers actually have points again. In 2026, a big step can be taken on top of that. According to Jack Plooij, there is a good chance that we will have a Williams Porsche F1 team on the grid in 2026.
During the F1 program Race Cafe Plooij apparently receives a message from Ziggo Sport that he would like to share. ‘Latest news! Porsche talks with Williams, 50 percent acquisition and supplier of engines by 2026. Almost done, that deal,” says the former pit reporter. He did not name a source for the big news.
The Porsche-Red Bull deal fell through because Porsche would have too much of an impact on the team, but in the case of Williams that would be perfect. It was previously announced that although the deadline for Porsche had already passed, the FIA wanted to squeeze a seal for the car manufacturer. Williams seems like a pretty malleable team for Porsche.
In 2020, Dorilton Capital bought Frank Williams’ team for (allegedly) 152 million euros. It was the lifeline for the legendary F1 team that dangled at the bottom of the championship and was in need of money. If the rumor turns out to be true, we’ll hear more about it soon enough.
