“Stranger things”, the successful Netflix series, embarked us on a ‘coming of age’ as terrifying as it is charming. For six years we grew up as a resident of the town of Hawkins, victims of the horror caused by the demogorgons, captivated by the fantastic adventure and the bond that unites the protagonists.
Fiction, which will culminate in a total of five seasons, has its days numbered and fans are dismayed to learn that there is no other equal or similar program that can make up for their loss. Despite this, there is a similar story in several aspects: “Item”.
This horror book, written by master Stephen King, was brought to television in 1990 as a miniseries and repeated the feat on the big screen in 2017. To the surprise of fans and the novelist himself, the horror film became the most successful of the genre in the history of cinema.

Under the direction of Tim Curry, we were transported back to the 80’s and met the Losers Club: Bill, Beverly, Richie, Ben, Eddie, Mike and Stanley. This friendly gang faces the ghoulish clown Pennywise, but first they must overcome his greatest fears. A journey of self-discovery, improvement and maturity that ends up turning these ‘losers’ into ‘lovers’.
The success of “It” was rooted in the fidelity to the spirit of the novel, the chemistry of its cast, the choral role, strong explicit content and the characterization of the killer clown. With only two hours, we manage to become attached to the charming adventure because it does not overlap the terrifying story with the emotional drama of its characters. Both sections support each other, making the most of each other.
It seemed that horror movies could no longer surprise the audience, but Pennywise’s nightmare came to shake the theaters like never before. With a collection of 701 million dollars, the film managed to surpass true classics such as “The Exorcist”, “Halloween”, “The Ring”, “Jaws” and “The Shining”.
