Turkey, armed man takes seven people hostage in a cosmetics factory: “I'm doing it for Gaza”
A man, claiming to act “for Gaza”, holds several employees hostage in a factory of the American group Procter & Gamble (P&G) located on the outskirts of Istanbul, in the north-west of Türkiye. This is what the local police told AFP. According to Turkish media, the man is armed and holds seven employees in custody, as confirmed by the Umut-Sen union.

At the time of the act the man was standing next to a drawing of the Palestinian flag and the writing “for Gaza” painted in red on the wall. The images show that police have set up a cordon around the factory, which mainly produces cosmetics. Special operations forces and medical personnel were sent to the scene, Turkish media report.
