The Israeli Army confirmed this Wednesday (10) that it killed three children of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in a bombing, whom it identified as terrorists from the Palestinian group.
“The Israeli Air Force attacked three Hamas military agents carrying out terrorist activities in the central Gaza Strip,” the Israeli Armed Forces said in a statement.
In the message, the Army confirmed that the three dead terrorists were Amir, Mohammad and Hazem Haniyeh, sons of the head of the Hamas political office, who has lived in exile in Qatar for years.
Shortly before, Ismail Haniyeh himself had confirmed that three of his children died in an Israeli bombing that occurred during Eid al-Fitr, which literally means “celebration of the end of the fast” and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
“With this pain and blood we create hope, a future and freedom for our people, our cause and our nation,” Haniyeh said in a statement shortly after the news was released.
The Gaza government, controlled by the Hamas terrorist group, confirmed that five people were killed and several others injured in an Israeli attack on a car carrying Haniyeh's children and grandchildren, although it did not release their names.
The attack occurs at a time when Hamas is studying a final truce proposal resulting from negotiations in Cairo, which, according to the Israeli press, would allow the release of 40 hostages in Gaza in exchange for a temporary ceasefire and the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing sources involved in the negotiations, that Hamas would not have the 40 hostages, which, according to what was proposed, should be all captive women, as well as sick and elderly men.
The agreement does not include the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes or the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, demands imposed by the terrorist group. (With EFE Agency)
